This post is all about happiness and how music does it for you in just seconds. All about the amazing 60’s – 80’s music. They heard the best and thank God they did. I have grown up listening to ABBA, The Beatles, Bob Marley, Phil Collins(Disney movies would have been empty without his music), Kenny Rogers, Lobo, BeeGees, Queen, UB40… man the list can go on and on.
What I’m trying to say is music in those days used to be soulful, you wanted to go back to it and replay. Imma 90’s kid and yet I wanna listen to those songs. I hope against hope someone makes a machine so that I can go back to that era.
I’m going to share a few of the best songs I like and I’m sure you’ll like them just as much.
Papa Winnie : “You Are My Sunshine” though this song has a 100 versions the one particularly close to my heart is the one sung by Papa Winnie. I like its Reggae beats, used to sing this to my dad when I was a kid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rFgZmWGwHM -You can check it out here
LOBO : “A Simple Man”, Simple lyrics, deep meaning. Though Lobo made it to the lists with “I’d love you to want me”, but A Simple Man could have got some more attention, anyways.
Funky Town : I’m sure all of you must have heard the chipmunks version which is hilarious, give the Lipps Inc. one a chance too. It makes you want to get up and do the Funky dance (which is nothing but a mad dance). Which you do when no one is watching.
BeeGees : “Anything For You” was hard to find at one point (grr), but not anymore. Here’s the link-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsV_QpRTtR4 . It sort of sounds like a Michael Jackson song. But give it a try.
UB40 : They used to do something what Glee does today, sing songs that were already there and make them extra special. To name a few ” Don’t Break My Heart”, “Every Breath You Take”, now with that one you must have heard the “Police” version too which is a more Goosebump -giving version. While the UB40 one is a more Reggae version. Link – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2xAYdTFQzk.
Genesis – Phil Collins = Awesomeness. “Invisible Touch”- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pN60DR5GQpg, “In The Air Tonight” – It’s Mike Tyson’s favorite too. This song has a surprise and no matter how many times I hear this song it still creates the same magic.
Disney music “You’ll Be In My Heart” (Tarzan), “On My Way” (Brother Bear)
ABBA – You still hear their music in Glee or wherever. “Mamma Mia”, “The Winner Takes It All”, “Dancing Queen”, “Chiquitita” – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4QqMKe3rwY makes anyone smile in a jiffy. Other amazing ones being “Fernando”, “Money,Money, Money”.
Jesse And The Rippers – “Forever” , I don’t know how many have you seen “Full House”, a popular TV show of the 80’s. They played awesome songs there.
Bellamy Brothers – “Let Your Love Flow”, amazing country music. Makes you want to get up and sway.
Queen – “I Want To Break Free”, aah what a song. This and George Michael’s “Freedom” make me smile.
The Beatles – “Hey Jude”, there are so many beatles song out there but this one is the closest to my heat. I shall name my Great Dane “Jude”.
The Temptations – “My Girl”, dad plays this one for me. I love it.
Tom Jones – “She’s a Lady” , another song the whole family dances to. Great beats.
WES – “Alane”, Music has no language, this song told me that. This song has amazing beats and is somewhat like the ThePianoGuys version of “Paradise”
In the rush to mention good songs I am sure I have missed out on quite a few, but I will keep updating because music has no end people. No end.
